For New Parents, the letter to a potential client may help you to understand my teaching:
“I normally start with young kids by using 2 books (one lesson one recital) and a theory book. I would do 5 min theory in between to adjust the rhythm.
About 3 month on the way, I will start to train student techniques, which will take about 20 min in lesson and 5 – 10 min each day to practice. This will ensure the student to grow strong fingers, use proper movements to produce beautiful tones, and eventually able to play fast.
Theory is important for various reasons. However the most important is to enhance students' sight reading abilities so that they learn new music with ease without spending much time.
When students finish their first set of books, I start to use classical text books with higher standards.
