Letter to a potential client about my teaching:

“I normally start teaching young kids by using 2 music books (one lesson and one recital) and a theory book. I do 5 minutes theory in middle of the lesson to change pace and make students relax their minds. Your child will need it as the lessons from day one require 100% concentration.

About 3 month on the way, I will start to train techniques. It will take approximately 20 minutes in lesson and 5 – 10 minutes each day to practice. This will ensure students to grow strong fingers, use proper movements to produce beautiful tones, and eventually play fast.

Learning theory is important by all means. However the most practical reason is to enhance students' sight reading abilities so that they learn new music with ease without spending much time.

Once a student starts to learn techniques, I will give him/her the 3rd book. At this point I start to use classical textbooks which provide higher standards. From here on I will use classical textbooks and classical music exclusively. I occasionally use few Jazz and pop pieces to give students some of exposure to American music."
